Simple Water-Saving Tips for InterRent Residents

Water is a precious resource we often overlook — it flows freely from our taps and always available when we need it. While 70% of the Earth’s surface is occupied by water, only 3% is freshwater for human use. Of that 3%, only 0.3% is accessible and usable to humans. Water conservation is crucial for the well-being of current and future generations. As residents of InterRent, you have the power to make a positive impact by adopting water-saving habits in your daily life.

1. Turn Off the Water While Brushing Your Teeth

Wet your toothbrush, turn off the faucet, and turn it back on when it is time to rinse. This is a simple way to conserve water.

2. Keep Your Drinking Water Cold

Store drinking water in your fridge. This small adjustment can help you save water that would otherwise be wasted while waiting for it to cool down. It’s a simple and effective way to save water without compromising convenience.

3. Do Not Flush Waste

Instead of using your toilet as a wastebasket, dispose of garbage in the appropriate bins. You waste at least 4.8 litres of water each time you flush a tissue or small piece of trash. For older toilets, this could be as much as 20 litres.

 4. Use Full Loads

Run dishwasher or washing machine only when you have a full load. Running half-loads is inefficient and wastes more water than needed.

 5. Wash Efficiently

When rinsing produce, consider filling a pan with water to wash your fruits and vegetables. This easy change can significantly reduce water waste.

 6. Reuse Water

After washing your fruits and vegetables, save the water for your indoor plants. This helps reduce water waste and give your water a second use.

 7. Soak and Scrape

Fill the sink with water and let the pots and pans soak to loosen the residue. Once soaked scrub the dishes clean and rinse them with a small amount of water.

 8. Inspect for Leaks

One drop leaking of a single faucet can water more than 69 gallons of water annually. Report any leaks to your office right away for a quick fix. This will reduce water waste and help lower your water bill.

9. Report Toilet Issues

Report toilet issues to your office to get the issue fixed promptly. This will prevent unnecessary water usage.
